Construction Scheduling Consultants, Australia-wide

Construction scheduling, program review and delay analysis for construction, infrastructure, mining and heavy industrial projects in Australia’s capital cities and regional areas.

Project Scheduling provides construction scheduling across Australia. We are construction scheduling consultants who build, resource and maintain the program itself, in Oracle Primavera P6, so it can be interrogated in delivery, audit and dispute. Whether engaged as an advisor or working alongside your delivery team, we take responsibility for the program and the evidence behind it, on construction, infrastructure, mining and heavy industrial projects nationwide.

What construction scheduling covers

A construction program is only as good as the thinking underneath it. A clean-looking bar chart can still be wrong: the logic may be propped up by constraints, the apparent critical path may not reflect the work driving completion, or the durations may assume productivity the site cannot achieve. We start with how the project team intends to build the work, then develop a program they can recognise, test and use.

That means:

  • Methodology and sequencing first. We work through staging, access, construction sequence and handovers with the project manager, superintendent and relevant discipline leads. The team reviews and affirms that the program reflects the agreed approach; assumptions that remain unresolved are recorded, not buried in the dates.

  • A logic-linked program in Primavera P6. Activities and relationships reflect the work to be done. We check open ends, justify constraints and lags, and trace the path driving completion rather than accepting whichever activities the software colours red.

  • Calendars and durations grounded in the job. Shifts, access windows, weather allowances and holidays are reflected in the plan. Key durations are tested against quantities, production rates and the resources available, not guessed to fit a target finish date.

  • Resources tested against the construction sequence. We examine whether labour, plant and workfaces can support the proposed plan. Where the engagement requires it, we resource- and cost-load the program and examine the effect of resource limits on the dates, rather than assuming that loading alone makes the plan deliverable. Primavera P6’s levelling settings can alter activity dates, so those effects need to be understood, not accepted blindly.

  • Interfaces built into the logic. Procurement and long-lead items, design release, approvals and authority decisions, and handovers between contractors and disciplines are scheduled as part of the work. If a decision or delivery can determine completion, it should not sit outside the program as an undocumented assumption.

  • Progress measured against what actually happened. We maintain the program using verified progress and project records, examine changes to the critical and near-critical paths, and explain emerging delay while there is still time to respond. Schedule risk analysis and schedule-quality checks support that judgement; they do not replace it.

This is how we develop tender and baseline programs that the delivery team can stand behind. The same construction understanding informs project controls and program review before a program is committed or submitted, and forensic delay analysis and extension of time claims if its assumptions and the subsequent record are later put under scrutiny.

A program built this way stands on more than the planner’s word: the people responsible for delivering the work have tested and affirmed the plan it represents. That team affirmation is distinct from a client’s or contract administrator’s formal acceptance of the program.

What you get

A logic-linked P6 program with documented assumptions and interfaces; a resource or progress basis where the engagement requires it; and, on a review, a clear read of your critical-path and completion-date exposure. Evidence you can act on, not a file you cannot interrogate.

Construction scheduling across Australia

Each capital city has its own page covering local experience, market conditions, working calendars and the approvals that shape a program there.

Sydney and NSW

We developed and maintained the critical-path schedule for the main contractor on the Sydney Desalination Plant, and led planning for structural steel design and supply on the Sydney International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour. Sydney programs run across live urban corridors under immovable public deadlines, where staging and the interface with operating precincts drive the finish date as much as the build. For state projects, this includes preparing schedule evidence for NSW infrastructure Gateway reviews. We support Sydney construction, infrastructure and building programs, from tender through delivery. See project scheduling in Sydney for rail possessions, NSW approval pathways and the Sydney market.

Brisbane and Queensland

Our Queensland experience runs across bulk materials handling and transport, including coal rail and sea loading, sugar refineries and their transport, and bauxite mining and processing; process and heavy industrial work including ammonium nitrate production; and quarrying at Ormeau. On this work the critical path runs through access, materials handling and commissioning, not just the build. We support Brisbane-based delivery teams and regional Queensland sites. We support Brisbane construction, infrastructure and industrial programs, and regional Queensland mining and process sites. See scheduling Brisbane and Queensland projects for cyclone season, show holidays and Queensland assessment.

Canberra and ACT

We delivered an 18-month scheduling engagement on Canberra Light Rail to Woden, the ACT’s largest infrastructure investment, and hold a position on the Infrastructure Canberra Specialist Advisors Panel. For a project scheduler in Canberra, or a construction program anywhere in the ACT, that is direct experience of the territory’s largest program, with a senior perspective. We support Canberra construction and infrastructure programs, from tender through to commissioning. See project scheduling in Canberra for National Capital Authority, parliamentary and heritage approvals.

Melbourne and Victoria

Our Victorian experience includes the Boral plasterboard factory upgrade, Deer Park Quarry and a landfill gas-to-energy plant, across manufacturing, quarrying and energy. We support Melbourne construction, civil and industrial programs where staging and interfaces decide the finish date more than the activities on the bar chart. See scheduling Melbourne and Victorian projects for operating-plant interfaces, Victorian calendars and Environment Effects Statement approvals.

Adelaide and South Australia

Our South Australian experience includes the Whyalla Blast Furnace No. 2 reline and copper and uranium mining and processing work. We support Adelaide construction, mining and industrial programs. That same discipline, program integrity under audit and dispute, applies to an Adelaide building, infrastructure or industrial program, whether you need it built, reviewed or analysed for delay. See project scheduling in Adelaide for outage planning, PlanSA approvals and the South Australian market.

Perth and Western Australia

Our Western Australian experience covers quarrying, minerals processing, and roads and bridges for transport infrastructure. We support Perth construction and resources programs, and remote WA sites. For a Perth-based team managing a remote WA project, we build and maintain the program in Primavera P6, from tender through execution, with the interface and commissioning focus these operations demand. See scheduling Perth and WA projects for fly-in fly-out rosters, northern cyclone season and WA mining approvals.

Hobart and Tasmania

We support Tasmanian energy, infrastructure and industrial projects, applying our mainland sector experience remotely, with site attendance agreed to suit the engagement. Tasmanian programs depend on Bass Strait freight, regional working calendars and specialist capacity shared with major energy works. See project scheduling in Hobart for how those conditions are built into the program.

Darwin and the Northern Territory

We support Northern Territory mining, energy and infrastructure projects, applying our sector experience remotely and on site as the engagement requires. Territory programs turn on wet season exposure, long-distance freight and travelling workforces, and NT environmental approvals. See scheduling Darwin and Territory projects for how those conditions are built into the program.

Evidence, not assertion

On one $59M earthworks program three months from dispute, the cause was not the contractor: it was the client’s own approval and RFI processes, adding 28 days to every critical decision. We traced 215 approval transactions to prove the baseline was unachievable from day one. The outcome was a six-month extension of time and the dispute avoided. Frequently asked questions

Do you provide construction scheduling outside the capital cities?

Yes. We work Australia-wide, including regional and remote operations, and are available across every capital city time zone.

What does a construction scheduling consultant do?

We build, resource and maintain the project program, analyse the critical path and schedule risk, and, when a project runs late, establish what caused the delay and substantiate the extension of time claim on the record.

Which scheduling software do you use?

We primarily use Oracle Primavera P6 for program development and analysis, and we agree the program format and reporting requirements with the client at the start of the engagement.

Can you help if our project is already in dispute?

Yes. We provide forensic delay analysis and extension of time claim support, built on the contemporaneous record.

Are you a construction scheduling company or a consultancy?

We are a specialist construction scheduling consultancy. You work directly with a senior scheduler who owns your program, with the depth of a specialist firm behind it, rather than a junior handed the file inside a larger company.
